Your Production Skills: Your Product | Parsons x Teen Vogue Assignment
For this assignment, I brought together the idea of my Signature Bag and design within a constraint using a striped fabric. I could use any construction method I liked and the fabric had to be large enough to produce a sample of my mock-up.
So, I used some of the fabrics on my fabric board. I used the Striped Black and White Cotton Bandana Fabric and the Black and White Checkerboard Felt Fabric.
First, I used the Black and White Striped Fabric for the base of the purse and sewed it together.
Then, I cut the Black and White Checkerboard Felt into 3 Stripes and sewed then into the middle of the purse to create horizontal stripes besides the vertical stripes. I used the rest of the Checkerboard Fabric to create 2 straps for the purse and then I cut small squares to attach the straps for decorations and then I sewed it onto the purse.
The last step was to create a Production Grid for the purse and include the price for the fabric and supplies and the time it took to make the purse with the minimum wage cost per hour and the cost of a 20% profit with a suggested retail price.
